Dishwasher trip flip problem

Last night the power cut out at home and after a little investigation noticed that it was down to one of the trip switches flipping off, something that has happened a few times before such as when a bulb blows. However this time the switch wouldn’t stay on, it kept flipping back to the off position.
Eventually we found out that it was the dishwasher causing the problem and turning the dishwasher off allowed us to flip the switch back on. However as soon as we turn the dishwasher back on the trip goes again.
Has anyone got any ideas what could be causing it and is there an easy fix? Don’t really want to fork out for a new dishwasher if I can help it.
Thanks

Firstly establish if it's the socket or the device that is causing the problem. Unplug the d/w, plug something else in and switch on. If it still trips, it's a circuit fault probably in that socket.
If it doesn't, it's a fault in the d/w, it's probably a sealed plug so I would cut that off and change it to start with. If still a prolem then you need an electrician to check your dishwasher.
Is your trip switch a normal MCB, or is it tripping an RCD?
PS: As a cross check, try your d/w on another power circuit using an extension lead. Usually separate circuits for kitchen, upstairs and downstairs in a modern house. No free lunch, and no free laptop

I had a similar problem with mine turned out it was the wall socket plugged it into another socket and It has never done it again0

OK guys thanks for the replies. I'll try a different socket and see if that fixes the problem.0
