I need to sell my car but...

... it has a few issues! It's a '96 Peurgeot 306 and it is a really good runner (honestly!). But, there's a few niggly issues; if I put the blowers on warm the screen fogs up, there's a hole somewhere so when it rains there's a small puddle by the pedals, the central locking is a bit tempramental and a few other little bits and bobs. These faults have never really bothered me too much, I was just grateful to have my own car as hubby is quite territorial over his! It really does run well, I've never had any issues with the engine.
I need to sell fairly soon as moving to Germany next month and don't need 2 cars out there, but I can't imagine anyone would want to buy it! Would it be easier to just scrap it? If not, what's the best way to try and sell it?

Im sure there is someone out there that wont be bothered too!!!

Just make sure your honest and open about the faults/issues. Perhaps a auction listing on ebay detailing the issues would be your best bet, you never know!!!
  • Easily saleable - no one buying a 14 year old car expects perfection!!. How long is the MOT how much tax? £400 seems about the going price on auto-trader for a 306 that age. You'd even get at least £100 selling as spares or repairs. Taking it to a scrap yard will probably cost you!!

Advertise in places like - local paper, local newsagents/shops, gumtree, auto-trader, ebay........

It's only worth a few hundred quid tops (depending on length of MOT) so try it in the local paper or on ebay.

Ring a scrap yard and ask what they would give you. That's your backstop price.
  • It's taxed and tested til May. Might give it a go on Ebay and hope for a few hundred quid!

Leaky heater matrix I suspect. Does your coolant level go down? If it is the heater matrix this would be the most costly/serious fault of the lot if the matrix is embedded under the dash.

Windscreen seal?! If so a bit of a clean up with meths and a bodge with some black sealant may sort that out.

Expected on a car this age. The first things I would try would be to lubricate the lock barrels with graphite powder, and maybe wd40 then grease the pivots inside the door. Could be a wiring problem or that the actuators need replacing. In the good old days cars didn't have central locking, and it may be easier just to disconnect it and use it as manual locking.

How much it is worth no doubt depends on how much MOT is left.

For £50 ;) scrap yard would pay more.
  • Yeah, already tried them! It might have issues, but it's worth more than £50. And that has got to be the most annoying advert EVER!!!

List it with an honest description and it will still sell.
