Where to get a lot of cheap compost?

Does anyone know if there's a good place to bulk buy compost cheaply? would need to get it delivered preferably.

I need a lot and kept buying bags as and when I needed it but I'm sure it was expensive. Some of the cheap stuff wasn't great either. I had some from Focus or something that kept hatching flies *eurgh*

Depends a bit what you want to use it for - you can quite often buy spent mushroom compost in bulk quite cheaply as they want to get rid of it, or alternatively some local authorities have composting plants which produce compost from household waste (I'm told this stuff is usually pretty good compared to cheap peat compost) - I think our council and the neighbouring ones will both do bulk deliveries. In fact the neighbouring one has a scheme where they put a big container of it at the dump and you can fill your own bags for a fee.

Most of it will be for seedlings and growing things in pots.

Threw a lot of spent compost into the clay soil last year to dig in and it's done it a lot of good so wondering whether to do that (if I can get it cheap). it's backbreaking clay soil.
