depending on what camera you have and what Memoery card i may be easier just to buy a couple of new cards they are reasonable priced these days0

I spent 3 weeks in the states last year and took hundreds of photos. I stayed with family so used their computer to burn the photos to disk, transferred them via card reader. Bring your cables and software just in case. i also uploaded them on yahoo so the family back home could see what i was up to on a daily basis. like Lee364 said cards are cheap, i bought a few plus new batteries when i was out there.
Enjoy your trip
I have nothing better to do!!!!

It's probably not worth uploading hundreds of Mbs of photos to an online space. If your friend does have a PC and you take the cable and software, you could transfer the photos to the PC and then get them to write to CD/DVD for you.
As lee634 said for the cost, you may as well get a couple of 512Mb/1Gb/2Gb sized memory cards. They are generally cheaper in the US than they are here as well.0 -
be careful, some of the photo storage websites automatically reduce image quality and size when you upload."See you on the Other Side"0

Don't know about the US, but certainly here and in Europe, photo shops can burn a CD for you while you wait, from the memory card.Neil0

I'm going to Australia for a similar period and I bought this Creative Zen Sleek

so I could transfer my pics onto it and re-format the memory card and start again. I'll use my friends PC.
This has no real advantage over burning a cd with the pics on but It means that we can share the pics with our friends out there without needing a PC or DVD playerI'm Glad to be here... At my age I'm glad to be anywhere!!
I'm not losing my hair... I'm getting more head!!0 -
You can buy items like coolagarry suggested which are purely for large scale storage from memory cards so you get more storage without having to pay for the screen or MP3 playing capabilities.
I know you can certainly get them for CF cards and would assume you can for other card types too.
It may just be cheaper though to buy a few 1 gig cards depending on your requirements. All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

You have a few options, it just depends on how much you want to spend.
Buy a load of memory cards and just keep swapping them when full, can be cheap if you use SD cards, some other types arnt so cheap. no messing as you can just swap a card if you fill it.
Someone posted above that stores will burn your photos to CD, they have places like that in the US aswell, cost unknown Ive never used this type of service.
Use your relatives pc to move your images over when you have enough for a cd or maybe a DVD burn them to disk. very cheap just the cost of a CDr or DVDr but they need a drive that can write to the media.
It is also possible to buy a device that contains a hard drive and various card readers, you put the card in the correct reader and you transfer the contents to the units built in drive, they usually have a battery powersource so no pc required. when you get home you plug it in to your pc and either use them on the drive or move them to your PC. Cost I think thay are about £60 upwards I cant find any for sale at the moment. some of them also work by using a cable between it and the camers.
I took my laptop with me and moved my photos to the laptop, it was great but carrying the laptop about could be a pain. I did find that becasue I knew I wasnt limited by storage I filled the memory card most days and deleted the junk when I got back on the laptop I shot about 2000 photos that I kept. because I had the chance to expereriment taking 2 shots on some occasions with diferent settings to make sure I had the image especially in the Grand Canyon.
I would proberbly opt to buy a few very large memory cards 2 or 4GB if not then go for the portable drive.
Try this you also need to buy a 2.5" laptop hard drive up to however much you think you will need to store 40GB is about £40. hey my £60 gues we pretty accurate.0
