Problem when typing on internet

When I am typing any login name on the internet or typing in a search engine, it is showing a's and b's instead.

For example, if I type 'Moneysaving' in Google search engine this is what it inputs bababababab.

Does anyone know what the cause of this is and how to get rid of it.

I have AVG anti virus and run this about 2-3 times a week on an automatic scan.

Does this problem occur also in other applications, say a word processor ...Could you try an alternative browser just to see if that 'cures' the problem - Firefox, IE, Opera, Chrome.

Is it a Microsoft keyboard by any chance?

Do what busenbust tells you type 'Moneysaving ' in wordpad or whatever, does it type correctly ?

Thanks for your replies.

It only happens when using the internet. I can type okay in MS Works or Wordpad, funnily enough it worked ok when I logged onto this site this morning, but on others such as facebook the same problem occurs.

BTW its a Dell keyboard
