Halifax Overdraft Question

Hey All.

I am going back to University in September and was wondering if even with my adverse credit history if it would be possible to turn my Halifax Current Account into a Student Account.

I have a £200 overdraft on my Halifax Account and I manage my account well. However I have defaulted on my other credit accounts i.e. credit cards and a loan.

At first I would have thought it would not be possible. However recently my overdraft was increased automatically. So I rang the Halifax and basically said that I had a bad/poor credit history why has my overdraft been upgraded?

I was basically informed that they dont credit check you again, once you have an overdraft. Its based on how you manage the account.

So again back to my above question, if I get my Student Loan paid into this account, do you think they will give me a student account/overdraft?

I just wondered if anyone on the bored had experience of this? Perhaps have done something similar?

I just dont want to embarrass myself at this stage by asking in the branch and being laughed at
