City Link fails Amazon

City Link is letting Amazon down badly. They became a preferred delivery company for Amazon. They are doing an appalling job and denting the reputation of Amazon severly. I have told Amazon I do not want to use City Link to deliver to me as City Link has messed up and ignored my email messages questioning them. Their ignorance will be back fire as I now only order with a cancellation clause if delivery is going to be made by City Link.

The Link is dead long live white van man.

City Link have a reputation of falling down on the job - speaking from personal experience, I've had a delivery of a crate of beer randomly left at a house a few hundred yards down the road (luckily the house owner knew me so I managed to get it).

Another delivery of a spare part for a laptop worth £50 went missing, turns out the driver had forged my signature and had either discarded it or sold it on. The company that supplied the laptop part had proof of delivery from City Link, and I asked them to email me a copy and on seeing an obviously forged signature, I informed them it seems City Link had deliberately stolen the item - there's no other way to describe it - and they sent out a replacement next day - by Royal Mail.

I live in a rural part of Wales, and my house can be hard to find, but that's no excuse. I work as a home delivery driver myself, and I know that if I can't find an address, I use a bit of common sense and ask someone – a shop or local business. If I simply discarded the delivery because I couldn't be bothered to find the address, I'm sure I'd lose my job.

They are, however, cheap. As always you get what you (don't) pay for.
