Digital camera 12 mps

Hi i have a camera which is 12 mps what memory card will i need how many photos will a 2 or 4 gb hold Thanks

    Depends on the resolution of the picture you take but as a rough guide - at high quality, you could say 1000 pictures will go on 1 gig.
  • The number of megapixels does not determine the type of card that it can take. You need to look at the manual or the camera itself to determine that. At maximum resolution, you could store at least 200 photos at 2GB (probably a bit more). If you lowered the resolution slightly, you could store thousands.

    based on lexar memory cards (should be same logic for other makes).
  • Photos do not all take up the same amount of memory, as this depends on the level of compression used by the camera and the percentage of similar colours/patterns in a given picture. While the Lexar numbers are indeed a reasonable estimate of the number of pictures, an absolutely safe low estimate would be about half that. After all, my 10mp camera takes some pictures with a higher file size than the size listed for 12mp cameras by Lexar!
