Disability Class Road Tax question

Hi

I tried to get my Road Tax online yesterday. Near the end of the form it asked for my

"VED Exemption Certificate Number (found on your WPMS or DLA404 certificate issued by SPVA & DWP)"

I don't know what a DLA404 is. I've looked through all my paperwork and can't see this. Just wondered if anyone could help.

thank you

  • You have to phone the DWP and apply to get a DLA404. Be warned, it can take ages. I requested the form to apply for one (though why you need to apply when they already have all the details is beyond me) and then they send the 404 back. I chased it up twice and it still took seven weeks to arrive.

But that would be to no avail...you need the dla404 form which is the exemption from road tax certificate which is issued by the DWP and is specific to each individual with it,s own unique serial number...once it is full you send it back to DWP and request a new one ...that is of course if your DLA claim is still in force and has,nt been decined on renewal(should that apply to you).Get on the phone in the morning and request they send you said form.

And if you haven't received the form within a few days ring and chase it - it took me nearly 9 months to get hold of mine, they kept promising that it was in the post!

They never run out if you tax online and have an indefinate award or you have a motability car, its never been a problem for me even when I did use them because I would send them back as soon as they were full and a fresh one was sent out, even when I had cars a short time.

I had no problem with mine, i called up got it within 3/4 days this was December time, and then once i sent it back i think it took 2 weeks to process as they say they do not process the forms as they arrive they wait till they have a batch of them, so all in all it took me a month but well worth the wait :)
