The idea behind them was that the scanner would be scanning all the time but there were a number of complaints from parents saying it would blind their child, so now the checkout operator has to press a button on the handle just at the time you scan your card.

there is a free android app that was released aaaaages ago called KeyRing that does pretty much the same thing as this, but with the added bonus of being able to store multiple cards, and is not just restricted to tesco clubcards...

Can someone point me in the right direction to download this app. I have trawled through the free apps in Itunes but cannot find it

My hubby tried this a few weeks ago at our local branch just to see if it worked. The cashier was intrigued too - it Didn't!

I'm so glad I still have a brick and not a phone that is a clubcard, a sex judge, a video etc etc!
(To be fair I'd probably get one if I knew I wouldn't break it)
But I would never ever master the thing. I text and call, and that's enough
I don't need another reason to have to get my phone out and risk dropping it!

Is getting the phone out really any easier than getting another card out when you pay from your wallet, or the tag on your keys which you'll probably need out then anyway?!

I am a Tesco employee and have a priviledge card 634002 This app is useless to me and my iphone! Not fair!

That is because they need to be swiped through the till and not scanned, it stops more than one card been active at anyone time.

I loaded this on my iphone last night (don't know if I will ever use it but did it just in case) I just went into aps store and searched 'tesco' and it came up at the top of the list.

Be nice if they did a J2ME version for us plebs with normal phones.
