Can i return dishwasher to shop?

I have a indesit dishwasher about 6 months old, bought from a local electrical shop (new). It went wrong a few weeks ago and the shop said we had to contact indesit direct to get someone out to repair, fair enough which we did. The first repair wasnt succesful so then we had to get them out again (another week wait and more time off work), the repair couldnt be done and they are now ordering some parts, but cant say how long. i really dont want to keep messing about taking time off etc, and if i cant take it back to the shop i may as well have bought much cheaper off the net, so much for supporting local retailers.
Is there anything i can do other than keep waiting for repairs?

Its up to the shop to sort the item out under soga. After a reasonable period(usually considered 28 day but no legal definition), its up to the shop whever its repair/replace/refund at their discretion.
So if you contact them and ask them to deal with it they have to.
They would be fulfilling there obligation under soga to for them to get the manufacturer to fix it. Either in shop or in your own home. They cant demand that you deal with the manufacture but it may be in your interest to do so.
Now your chance for replacement is going to come from time for repair must not significantly inconvenience the customer I suspect that as you properly have a sink that its would be difficult to prove in a court of law but I'm no legal expert.
If I was you i would frist contact both parties and tell them your not happy with the time it taken to repair they may be willing to replace it for you though good customer service.0 -
Thanks, they are coming again to repair (in 2 weeks !). So i think if we wait for this repair and it still doesnt work we have been patient and more than reasonable.0

Push Indesit harder, if the timescales/inconvenience are causing you problems then they can replace the machine for a new one. I have had 5 or 6 replacement washer driers from Indesit/Hotpoint over the last 2 years, I let them fix it once, if the fault reappears (which it normally does) I get them to replace the whole machine.
Worth a try.0 -

I did switch from Hotpoint to in Indesit (same company though), but as they keep replacing the machine and give a new 1yr guarantee with each machine it is cheaper to keep doing this then it is to replace for a different make (will go for Bosch next time though!!) 0
