  • There is a button in iTunes in the ipod update bit that fixed your iPod when something like that has gone wrong - I cant remember what its labeled as but its something like reset ipod.

I had the same thing with my second gen, mine was under warrenty and Amazon took it back for a refund. Apple didnt want to know anything that their purchased update bricked their own device. I was updating to 3.1 version when it happened.

Just to give more details. The iPod V3.0 plugged into laptop and work fine in Itunes. Itunes downloaded and installed V3.1 Which once installed failed to go past the USB cable with an arrow on the Touch screen. Itunes said it needed to restore so I did and it kept failing. I called Amazon who told me how to reset the ipod Hold the power and menu button for a while. Which completely bricked it and it never turned back on.
