Show cubicle gave up the ghost

Our shower door finally died yesterday when the chromed plastic attachment at the top split from side to side. It is unbradned and even on the original invoice there is no name quoted. Therefore as far as I can tell I now have to replace the cubicle. The current one seems to be screwed to some vertical brackets running up the wall and behind the tiles.

I think I can guess the answer but is there a common attachment method i.e. the same brackets are used or will I need to replace everything?

If replacing everything then what is the recommended approach? Removing the tiles either side of the bracket, replacing it and retiling?

Thanks for your help

The cubicle door and / or side panels are normally secured into a 'runner' or 'carrier' attached to the wall. Normally the tiles go in first and the carrier is then screwed to the tiled wall and thge screen then sits into the carrier, again secured with screws. You have to buy the whole thing including the 'carrier'. It can be a pig of a job to get the old carrier off and will often result in damge to the tiles or sub-strata. If it is not somethying you are confident doing, you may wish to get someone in, particularly as the mastic application on the new one is critical to ensure leaks are avoided.

    Thanks.

That is not as bad as I thought. I had visions of having to remove tiles either side of the "carrier" to dig it out of the wall.

Any recommendations for the replacement cubical? It is a 900mm quadrant and I was looking for something that didn't use plastic for the door frames as they quickly cracked in the corners. Although even with cracks, they did last 9 years :-)
