Fire or accidental damage

Hi

Im hoping someone may be able to give me some advice on this.

My car went on fire last night under the bonnet. I had put oil in it and hadnt put the cap back on properly.

Im waiting on a mechanic coming to look at it as im hoping to get it fixed without having to go through my insurance.

Im not sure how much damage has been done, it was blazing.

Im just wondering if I do go through the insurance would it be classed as fire or accidental damage.

I only have fire, theft and 3rd party so im not sure if I have the option to get this fixed under the insurance.

Thanks for any replies

It was on fire, but as a result of your negligence. I would check your insurance policy to see if there are any exclusions mentioned for negligence in relation to fire damage.

I have reread over it all but it doesnt mention anything about negligence in relation to a fire only in relation to theft.
