Florida at Christmas

I want to go to Florida with my wife and two teenagers over the Christmas holidays. We have a family member living there, so the accommodation is free. However, I am curious as to how much we might be looking at in terms of airfares. All the current offers end, alarmingly (!), on December 16th, suggesting a massive price hike then takes place. So, how much for a return ticket and where is the best place to get tickets?
Thanks.

went 2 years ago in january to get married, initially wanted to go over the christmas holidays found out that it was much cheaper to go to oz. we plumped for flying out boxing day for 2 weeks and the price came down by more than half.
from what i can remember we paid about 350 per person and booked with travelbag.
