Just a thought but if all you want is to do your bit, then surely you are doing. Providing a comfortable, loving environment for the man you love. He is sure working hard but instead of wearing yourself out trying to add a few pence here and there maybe concentrating on the house and kids is the best way to support your OH.

I agree with this veiw. Also, be very careful about what you do earn. I gave up a fair few hours of my time to do exam invigilation only to find that those nice Tax Credit people took all that I earned off this years tax credit. After allowing for petrol money and a session of childminding due to an exam finishing late, I think I ended up out of pocket.

:D Thanks for the support folks. I agree that the sex industry is not to everyones taste, but it is a nice little earner. Thanks to those who have sent pms. I have answered a couple and will answer the rest when I get back from my 'normal' work for the co-op:rotfl:

I was going to ask if you had considered fostering, but your concerns regarding childminding would be of even greater significance.

Thanks for all your ideas I'm going to look into a few of them.

I actually got the courage ( thanks to your posts) to go to our local craft cafe and ask them if they would sell some of my handcrafted cards ( I've been wanting to do this for months but haven't had the balls ) and they said YES!!!!!!!! I'm really please. They may not sell, but they have more chance selling there than the do sat in my craft box gathering dust. So I need to get them organised to drop into them next week. Fingers crossed!

Anymore Ideas I will look into so please don't stop.

    Thanks Batgirl.

  • Huge well done for getting those craft cards down the shop. I know it takes a massive amount of courage to go and ask someone "do you think this thing I made with my own hands is good enough to sell?" which is effectively what you did.

I dither about, not submitting writing for publication because I'm too pathetic and scared, and how much is it worth sitting on my hard drive? Nothing. And how much would I lose if I just started submitting it? Nothing!

    You have inspired me. :)

  • Crumbs!! I'm feeling inspired too now!! I'm a compulsive knitter and either just knit things for friends/ family or knit them and then undo them and start again. Might actually make some stuff to take to craft fairs and stuff. Never thought of that!! You are all supremely nifty!! :))

  • Have you thought about the various commission selling schemes - I know you said there was an Avon lady in your area, but there are several child-based products - I'm thinking Phoenix cards, Usborne books, there's a great Australian based company selling funky school labels too (sorry can't remember the name). With a child at school and another at pre-school you've already got the network - and they're usually happy to circulate catalogues for you if you offer a small donation to the PTA.
Since my youngest went to school last year I've started teaching toddler music groups - now run 6 a week, and I'm always around for the girls when they finish school.
Well done with the cards - hope they sell well
