Is there treasure in my garden?

Have been approached by a neighbour who would like to buy a chunk of our very sizeable garden. I'm quite happy about this as the lawn is murder to mow!!
The question is How Much Is It Worth? We haven't discussed how much of the garden they want and we live in the Northeast. Has anyone done this? How much per square meter should I expect to get?
Thanks

You also need to find out what they intend to do... do they just want a bigger garden or are they intending to build another house on the extra land etcAll posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

A friend of mine swapped the bottom bit of his garden for a Porsche 911. The purchaser intended to build a small property on it, but planning was refused.
Ha ha. now purchaser is left with end of garden that he can do nothing with and no car

A friend bought some recently from his neighbour for £100 per square metre. Whether this was a good price or not I don't know. If they are planning to buy up enough to build a house on it will be worth a great deal more.Midas.0

Land does have a meterage price, depending on the area. Land will only be worth more if planniong permission is already granted. Otherwise its just land.0 -

Which is highly likely at some point in the not too distant future!
Personally I would not sell my back garden to a neighbour - what about leasing it to them instead so you still retain ownership?0
