Warning, News of the World Barry M make-up offer

If you have been saving the tokens in 'Fabulous' magazine, free with the News of the World to get the free Barry M make-up kit worth £20, it is probably not worth getting the final fifth (additional) token in next week's issue.

The offer stated that any four of the five tokens could be used together with the voucher printed in yesterday's magazine (7th February) however it seems NOTW seriously underestimated the take up of this offer, if the Superdrug in my city is anything to go by:naughty:.

Within one hour of opening, on a Sunday morning  all stocks had gone - and remember this is a full week before the final token becomes available .

What a swizz  and just the sort of thing the NOTW would criticise in any other newspaper!

The words 'brewery' and 'p*ss-up' come to mind :whistle::whistle:

I got mine yesterday ok, late afternoon, but to be honest it's fairly quiet here (kendal) on a Sunday & i think a lot of people are too 'posh' for money off tokens!!! Obviously i'm not!!

Not sure what your problem is - anyone knows with tokens its first come first served. If its a countrywide promotion then each superdrug is going to have a limited stock. Try elsewhere. ;)
    Thank you all who post.
  • I got mine at lunch time today from a Superdrug small little town called London ;) I was really surprised my nearest one had any tbh.

Since the purpose of the post was simply to warn anyone still collecting tokens, that it probably isn't worth buying next week's paper - I would have thought it was clear I was simply being MSE :money:but evidently not (still mourning the demise of the rolleyes smiley :D).

  • Hey, I am surprised that your store ran out.

I work in a store, where we had a delivery of 120 bags last week! So far we have given away less than 40- but today we got a further delivery of 40.

So we have over 120 again :D

Its definitely worth trying the store again

Thanks for this - I tried the store again yesterday and they had received another delivery, but they told me they had already run out again! Do you know if there are any further deliveries planned for this week? More to the point, I am wondering if I should just wait until Sunday (when the final token is printed) and be waiting outside the door of Superdrug waiting for them to open :D. It's quite close for me to be able to do that. Failing that, I could nip to the one in a small town near me and do the same on the off chance that not so many people will be there.

Failing that, I could send you my tokens and a pre-paid envelope (only joking) ;).

Of course I should have realised that with this being the 'Cold Hard North' there would be a rush for anything that gives a bit of colour :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.

  • Unity- as far as i am aware any more deliveries will be based on stock levels- so your store should get some more- the word should being the right one.

I wouldnt advise you to go in on Sunday though because thats the very last day of the offer- and there won't be any deliveries on the Sunday but more people with the tokens- so go in Saturday- make sense??

Failing all that do send it down and i will pick you one up- it has to be here by Saturday though...

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I think the problem might be that every store is being sent the same amount of bags, whether it is a big city or a small town. Unfortunately - although I live in one of the biggest cities in the North - there is only one Superdrug, hence the stocks have run straight out on two consecutive days. I also tried the town next to us and they had also run out straight away. I can imagine there must be many branches of Superdrug in London - therefore it's hardly surprising someone would manage to get one there. I am going to try phoning one of the smaller branches in another neighbouring town to see if I have any luck there - you never know ;).

There must be lots of people who missed out on the first token and are waiting for the final one on Sunday though so I wonder what will happen?

Thanks again for your help. :T:beer:
