Benefits - where do I start?

  • Many thanks for those who have provided constructive information. I will go to the 'entitled to' site mentioned and investigate further and I have made an appointment to speak with the nursery provider to discuss options.

My post was written by me but on behalf of my husband, as primarily I am the one to sort finances, claims, etc. out; so whilst I asked what benefits I could claim, I was hoping to get any useful advice for the both of us. As one response mentions redundancy is devastating for all families who go through it. In these circumstances it is generally help and support people need not derisive comments.
  • As bestpud has said JSAC for your husband if he has paid his conts - tell him to contact the job centre and maybe council Tax Benefit as you are on quite a low income with your earnings. You will need to contact your council for this.

Benefits is a mine field if you haven't had much contact with it before - it can be even if you have.

It must be a really difficult time for you and your partner, i hope that you manage to get something sorted :)
