dla medical

  • It's not new, I think it depends on the condition and the evidence. I've once had a medical for DLA a long time ago, which was amusing imo because all they did was ask me about my medication, side effects, seizure types and if I worked. All of which I'd already put on the form and I gave the same answers.
No walking, bending, prodding etc and he found out nothing there that was not on the form and in the consultant report. They would have got nothing more unless I had happened to have a seizure in front of him, which I didnt!

Haha, yes, that sums it up. They ask the same questions that are on the claim form, and give you less time to answer things fully before they move on.

Oh, he did poke me. About four times down my spine? I have NO idea what that told him about my muscle problems or what he gained from it.

Interesting, thanks very much. Mine is due for renewal this year so will have to wait and see if they decide to do a medical. Mine is for mental health problems so how they can do a medical on that I'm not sure.

LOL perhaps he was a bit of a sadist. Never did get that myself 'does this hurt' whilst prodding a broken leg. Well err yes!

I wouldnt stress about it. I always found it baffling they did one for epilepsy, tells them nothing other than what I say. You can take someone with you for support if you do get called in.

well I just let you know how it went.First of all he was 15 minutes late and then I had to answer all the usual questions about medicines and what help and care you need. then he took my blood pressure sitting and standing, tested my eyesight with a sight card and then putting a cross on a piece of paper and he had something like a torch and I had to stare at the cross and tell him if the light was on or off ! I then had to walk about show him the aids I have perching stool, trolley, bath lift and toilet frame. I then had to go up the stairs where I have extra rails put in ane the mattress lifter on the bed. He then examined my back and neck , checked reflexes. It took 1 hour 30 minutes ,I thought it was never going to end.I am in Scotland so this was done by Medical Services of Glasgow. So I have to wait 3 weeks to find out if I will get it or not

Unless of course you're unfortunate enough to fit in front of the doctor.

just an update. I eventually received a date for my tribunal after waiting nearly 6 months.I thought I could do it on my own but I realise I should have got help. I was there on the 2nd September.
There was a man from the dss there as well as the judge, doctor and disability representive. I was not prepared for the way they word questions and I soon felt things were not going well .
when the dss man was asked if he had any questions to put to me, I asked him why I had not received the typed version of the doctors notes I had asked for. He said there was no mention of this in the notes but both the doctor and the judge did.His notes went up to 111 and the note was on 112.
The last thing I wanted then happened, the judge said that it would have to be adjourned until I received the typewritten notes and I will probably have to wait another 10 weeks
I feel like giving up, the thought of having to go through it again is making me ill.

My god, I am really sorry to hear about the struggles you are currently going through, sounds like it's been really tough :(

Hang in there though, you've come to far to give up now :)
