The Melia Flora Park in Hammamet Yasmine is a fantastic hotel.Been there twice now and really enjoyed it both times.

i went to hotel soviva in port el kantaoui. it was fantastic and had all the facilities. i think since then it has been extended and now includes golden soviva which is exclusively for certain companies guests (not sure which), but all facilities i believe are shared. the pool is massive!!
its not far from the beach at all and even though it was a little way out from the actual port, it was easy enough to travel by taxi or tuc tuc!

    would recommend it to anyone

stayed there in june 2002. at the time, we were warned of building works taking place but decided to go anyway and had no probs at all with noise/bad views etc. everything was brilliant.
I must warn you though, about 12 months after our stay, the hotel appeared on the tv show 'holidays from hell'. people had complained about the building work ( i think because they had started to open the newly built rooms whilst continuing building around them). i seriously could not believe it as we had a fantastic time. it was so clean and all the staff were brilliant and really friendly.

there was only one problem, which i think happens in most of the hotels in tunisia, and that was wild cats. there were quite a lot of them roaming around and at times they were annoying but i don't think the hotel could do anything to keep them out of the grounds. so long as you don't feed them or touch them then its fine. we weren't too bothered about them but i can see it would bother many people.

another thing (and really the most annoying) .. we were all told on the transfer coach that the hotel staff in tunisia do not like you buying drinks etc from outside, even though it is much cheaper than the hotel shops. basically they like you to spend your money on their premises and we were warned that many hotels would confiscate items (alcohol/bottled water etc) if you were seen bringing it into the hotel, they told us to always put it in a bag and hide it!

there was a shop over the road from the hotel and we went there and bought bottled water (despite being warned and because it was much cheaper). i put the bottles in my bag and as we walked back into the hotel grounds, i was stopped by the security man, who promptly confiscated the water and put the bottles in a shed which was full to the top of confiscated drinks. this really p'd me off as i'd paid for it .. but it was stated in the hotel rules that this was not allowed. they do allow you to pick up what they have taken on the day you leave or when you go out for the day, they just don't like it being bought for use on their premises . its the way the hotels make money.

aside from these problems, the hotel was great and overshadowed what are really only minute issues and i would definelty go again given the opportunity.
