Cahoot > Current Account

Im seeing now a few people are pretty negative on the current account from cahoot. I already have a savings account with them so I activated a current account as it actually gives interest vs nothing from Royal Bank of Scotland.

I currently have £0 in this new account and well am now thinking is it worth going down this route of changing over (i wont cancel fully my RBS) current accounts.

Just wondering if there are many happy people using the Cahoot Current Account or am i just hearing the maybe "few" people who have had issues with them....or is this not just an isolated few its infact a bigger issue.

Any feedback on what people think i should do would be gratefull. Maybe if anyone would advise a better account for a current account. I didnt pick the higher interest ones mainly because i dont want the "must put in xx pounds per month rule".

I want this account to stay as my current account for a while but if its going to cause problems then obviously id like to know before i start the move rather than after.

Thanks for any opinions.

Tils, I had a cahoot current account for a couple of years. I used it mainly for bills and other ad hoc expenditure. They ran it very well and I had no problems until I attempted to take out a loan a couple of years later. I'd not really had any need before then to contact customer services but it was an absolute disaster. This replicated itself a few months later when I tried to open a savings account - paperwork was never sent, or when I returned it it was 'lost' in the post (funny, Royal Mail must just hate delivering cahoot mail as everything else gets where it should be going to). Their customer service support was dreadful and emails went unresponded to or responded to with trite 'text book' answers which told me everything but what I wanted to know.

If you are thinking of moving, why not try them out for a few months using a direct debit or two that you can move manually and transfer a few hundred pounds or so into the account just to see how things go. I'm not totally against cahoot now, but I don't know how much faith I'd have in them to sort out serious problems to any great degree of satisfaction. But maybe since Abbey have been taken over by Santander, things on that front will have improved.

I have had a cahoot current account for 4 years and as a internet bank I am generally happy with it.

The only thing I would say is that customer services are awful, often answering a question with a bog standard reply which has nothing to do with the original question.

If you can run it without involving CS too much then its fine
  • I've been with Cahoot for 6 years - no problems. I've spoken with Customer Services twice on the telephone and also via email when they are always slow to answer. However, if you generally run your account well (i.e. nothing too complex, happy to operate your account over the internet), then you should find Cahoot a good choice.

I agree - keep away from CS and all will be well! Been with them about 5 years with no real problems.
