Nice ebay story - for a change

I had an item bought by a guy about 50 miles from me last week (although the distance is not relevant).
He contacted me through ebay 2 days later to let me know he was having an paypal problem. He left me his home number.
So I called him, nice guy....I told him not to worry about the time scale and asked about his problem. He thought he had forgot his paypal password. I sympathised and pointed him in the right direction of paypal help (been there before lol).
He contacted me again next day - I called him, he had been signing in with thw wrong email address, we laughed - I too did this when I started. So he managed to get everything goign ok and paid for the item and postage (not a fortune £9.98).
I then got a message from him next saying that he wanted another of the same item from me for his wife.
What I wanted to say is that although ebay can be a minefield at times in the end we are all human and sometimes a bit of patience and humanity goes along way - :T
It got me another sale -
Positive feedback rating item met all expectations. Great service and very helpful Buyer 10-Jul-06 20:49

ConfuciusTo be able under all circumstances to practice five things constitutes perfect virtue; these five things are gravity, generosity of soul, sincerity, earnestness and kindness.

Nice to hear a positive story. Whilst there are some strange people out there in ebay land, there's also some lovely ones and I relish getting follow up emails from people.
Lets not forget that ebay is a godsend for housebound/lonely people and they appreciate a personal touch too.0 -
I've met some really lovely people through ebay, in fact the people who have been exceptionally nice far outweigh those who have given me grief.

I agree, I have kept in contact with a couple of women I have bought kiddies clothes from via ebay - not buying from them, just the odd email here and there - it's nice, have also met some very nice ppl (and been to a couple of nice houses!!), it's just a pity that there are some out there still spoiling it (not my phone man, the woman that has conned me and many many others the last month or so out of hundreds) - I think more and more ppl are being put off ebay now - it's nice to hear a happy ending story for a change.0

I've made a good friend through Ebay.
I bought a record from him, he was nosy and looked up my past purchases, realised we had identical taste and he started emailing me.
We've since met up for drinks and call each other regularly. Ebay does have its lovely users!!Third time lucky on WW I hope :j

Yes it does. I bought an item once for £19.99 and paid the seller twice (silly me)
The seller emailed me back saying i'd paid him twice and that he had refunded the second paymentCome on you Irons0 -
I have lots of nice ebay stories...I'm quite thankful that I have never fallen prey to the nasty scammers which operate.
I never buy anything really expensive like laptops or phones though - just in case...they seem to be the items that cause the most problems. The most I have spent was on a quad bike and I was worried it would go wrong until the day the crate arrived lol.
Every transaction has been either nice or businesslike.....and I have been buying things for nearly 3 years.

If you look at Ebay as a whole, 99% of transactions go smoothly, it is the 1% that go wrong that give it a bad name.
If everybody that had a good ebay experience posted it on here the post would be massive.
I have 20 or so good experiences each day, I get paid, send items out and receive good feedback.0 -
On a whole eBay has added to my life
It allows me to find things that would have taken years of searching record stores before
It allows me to easily offfload stuff I have finished with such as children's DVDs
I do wish that it could fix a couple of annoying issues
But on the whole, I am glad it exists0 -
i missed an auction once for a mobile phone (nothing flash, just an old one) which didnt sell, so i contacted the seller to see if they would relist. Got an email back the same day saying they didnt want anything for it and that i could have it if i paid the 1.50 postage! how nice! just goes to show there are some genuine people on there0

I once managed to stick the wrong address labels on two parcels, so each of my buyers got the wrong one. They were both really understanding about it (although i did write a lot of grovelly emails!) and between us we got it all sorted out in a couple of days. Then they both left me lovely feedback too!
Most of my experiences on ebay have been really positive, although i do have to say that my one bad one was REALLY bad.0
