    Hi,

Sorry I cannot answer your query, its just you may wish to review the title of your posting:

    ''dla/incapasity & vertigo / vd''

as I am sure not all members realise VD in this case stands for Vestibular Dysfunction and not for something else those two letter are an abbreviation for.

I must admit my first thought on reading the title in 'topics view' was how can one claim benefits for Venereal Disease!!! Mind you, it might get lots of views!!

  • Hi there,

Many people on this site will tell you that DLA does not take into account the name of your condition, but how it affects your life. It's in 2 parts - care and mobility - with differing levels of "benefit".

The form you use to apply for DLA is quite long. It asks lots of questions and gives you space to add in additional information. My wife helped me to complete the form when we applied and we found it easiest to use the downloadable "complete on your computer" version. You can save it half way through and change things before you print it, to make sure you are 100% happy with what you've said before it goes off.

Here's the link to the saveable form:

Do you have a good relationship with your GP? Speaking to my GP helped me and they recommended I apply for DLA!!

You mentioned Incapacity Benefit. That was the benefit given to people unable to work due to illness or disability. It's now been replaced by something called Employment Support Allowance.

    You can get details here:

Hi yes you can claim dla for vertigo. My dad claims dla and one of his problems is vertigo. Remember though its not the illness but the way in which it affects you.
