Help! hair's been buttered!

Hello everyone, I hope that this is the right place to post, please move if it isn't.
I need some expert advice, DD2 (9) has been allowed to wash her own hair for some time and has been doing okay...until tonight
When I tried to dry the thick matted tangle that I had been presented with, I found out (after some persuasive questioning) that she had decided to follow up the shampoo and conditioner with body butter!
Her hair has now been washed four more times and it is not improving. I can barely get the comb through and the body butter has spread itself over my fingers, towels and clothes.
Please is there any experts out there who know how to remove this gunk out of her hair before I pull out my own?
TIA

I would probably try washing up liquid as it is designed to cut through thick grease! Then re-wash it in normal shampoo to get rid of any remaining washing up liquid as it may irritate the skin if left on.

HTH.
Hehe you beat me to it0 -
What I think you need to do is shampoo her hair when it's dry (iykwim). If you put shampoo on her dry hair and work it in, then rinse off, it works into the grease better (or so I believe). Worth a try.
JxxAnd it looks like we made it once again

Aw bless her!
Body lotion shouldn't do much to hair that conditioner wouldn't, so it should be fairly easy to remove - how much exactly did she put in?
Hot hot water should remove the lotion, does she have long enough hair that you can drape it into a bowl of really hot water, using a wide toothed comb to brush through?
Bought is to buy. Brought is to bring.0 -

Think yourself lucky, my old bosses DGD put a full tub of Vaseline over her hair!! It was plastered to her head for 2 days til they could get her to a hairdresser for some 'expert' advice after trying everything themselves lol
I think the washing up liquid should do the trick0 -
If you're going to use washing up liquid then it's advisable to use a small amount in with some shampoo, rather than using it neat. And leave it on for five minutes or so before rising it off.

Thanks for all your replies (and so quick too!)
I will give the washing up liquid a go in the morning and repeat in the evening with working it into the dry hair if we still have a problem.
This is really thick greasy stuff, intended for really dry skin, the consistency is like that of real butter!
