Im not going to spend alot - not very MSE for a start - but i AM going to buy some "key items" so that i can use some of the tops etc i already own.
I havent been in TopShop for YEARS - I used to work on the freedom counter when i was younger lol - But then once i put the weight on i didnt really feel comfortable there so avoided at all costs!
DP - i like their tank tops as they are long but this is something i need to stay away from i think
Ive seen a niec dress on ASOS but i generally dont suit dresses so will wait to see what happens on the 19th
fingers crossed
(P.S - OH says he doesnt like it when i wear heels so thats a no-no atm!)
Forget the OH! Wear what looks good its your body not his:D
JL is quite pricey- but get some advice on what looks good- get as many opinions as you can, helps you out when chosing items in the sales as style advisors can often suggest things you'd otherwise had not tried and certain cuts which work and those that do not work- advice is really useful in the heat of the moment even if your not buying what they say!
If things feel too nerve wracking have a glass of champaige (they may offer you a drink) and take a mate if possible too- have a laugh and don't stress- its clothes, they wont hurt you, only your bank balance:)0 -
I would agree that John Lewis can be quite pricey. One day Rodney we'll be millionaires£2020 in 2020 - Running Total £170

I would say definitely join us on the daily fashion thread. They have all helped me a lot - I know what I like but I'm not a confident dresser. Lots of us have blogs and it's great to pinch other peoples ideas ( I think of it as flattery!)
My brother and I got my mum a personal shopper session at House of Fraser. She had a great time and they did suggest lots of things for her but based on what she liked, just pushiing her boundaries a bit!0 -
Try Debenhams at Meadowhall. The ladies there are really good and you get a little goodie bag and cups of tea too! Call 08445 61 61 61 to book. They ask what you are looking for then bring you loads of stuff to try and there is no obligation to buy anything. We had a go then found similar shapes and looks from other stores like Primark that were cheaper.
Next in Meadowhall also have a peronal shopper so you could do both! :T0 -
but Meadowhall has a disney store and thats not going to be very MSE if i see it lol I'll keep it in mind tho! thanks! might go in March and hit disney in time for easter (whens easter? lol)0

I would feel uncomfortable with a personal shopper and would feel obliged to buy something - but each to their own!
I got so sick of not being able to get jeans at the right length that I tried Ebay. I have now got plenty of Dorothy Perkin jeans, as good as new, the right length and they only cost around £5 each. Ebay can be hit and miss but worth a look.
I would look in catalogues and online before hitting the high street so that you've got things in mind to compare.
Let us know how you get on - Im interested to see what happens!0 -
I'm hoping to get a dress from JL - but thats all im buying from there - will get ideas and search elsewhere.
I never buy clothes for me off ebay - I buy DD clothes from there but i like to try them on before i buy which is something i cant do on ebay lol0 -
Hi mommyme, good luck with your personal shopper. Hope it goes well. Have you tried Zara and H&M, I find some lovely stuff in these stores. I'd also give Primark another go - maybe at another branch if you don't want to return to the one you visited before? There's Peacocks aswell. I do like Debenhams, M&S, etc for some things but H&M is my favourite! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
