NHS Pay Scales

This is not an automatic increment newly qualified staff have to go through preceptorship to get their increment after six months in post.
No they dont have to go through a preceptorship. They have to show they have met the 'required standard'. this can be achieved without a preceptorship programme.£2019 in 2019 #44 - 864.06/20190 -

Just to add:
Heres the AFC guidline:
1.8 Within each pay band there will be a number of pay points to allow pay
progression in post. Staff will progress from point to point on an annual
basis to the top point in their pay band or pay range, provided their
performance is satisfactory and they demonstrate the agreed knowledge
and skills appropriate to that part of the pay band or range. Staff joining
pay band 5 as new entrants will have accelerated progression through the
first two points in six monthly steps (that is, they will move up one pay
point after six months and a further point after 12 months) providing
those responsible for the relevant standards in the organisation are
satisfied with their standard of practice. This 12-month period will be
referred to as “Preceptorship”.
Many trusts do not offer a preceptorship or do in name only. ie. they offer no specific newly qualified/preceptorship programs or training. The employee is still able to get the 6 month increment rise if they meet the relevent standards.£2019 in 2019 #44 - 864.06/20190 -
Her contract stated there would be a 6 month increment but some of her colleagues said it was wrong.
Perhaps because she has a degree and entered into band 5 thats why she got it. Perhaps others were already NHS or not graduates.
I hope they dont notice though.
There was another graduate that started a month or so later but my girlfriend said she didnt mention an increment.
Hmmm.. fingers crossed she will get the second jump in April.
Shes only temp till April 2011 so will have to start job hunting for a permenant position soon.0 -
Did the NHS not agree a 3% inflatory rise in April too?0
-
no. I think it was something like 2% and it was staggered in two or three phases, so when calculated it worked out at about 1.9% or something. Currently 2.24%.Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0

And thats effective immediately, April 1st?0

From 1 April 2010 all pay points would rise by a further 2.25%. There would be a flat rate increase of £420 for bands 1, 2 and 3 and some further changes to the pay spine that would add 2.5% to the pay bill in total. These changes would include the reduction in the number of pay points in band 5 from 9 to 8 pay points. The consequence of this would be to add additional monies to points 19, 20, 23, 24 and 25 that year and again in the year 2011/2112.Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0

Thanks.
My girlfriends an Information Analyst but she and most of the team are temp till April 2011.
Their team leader is trying to address the fact that they are all temp contracts. Fingers crossed they can somehow all get extensions.
If not, shes going to have to start job hunting this summer.0
