Any GRANTS for Solid wall

There seems to be loads of Grants available for Cavity wall insulation, but is there any for Solid wall?

Seems a little unfair that there does not appear to be any.

Any advice please?

  • Sid,
don't think there is as the only way to insulate a solid wall is to stick something over the outside or stick something on the inside, and that gets expensive (putting it in over simplified terms)
I agree with you about it being unfair though
The advice I give on here is based on my many years in the preservation industry. I choose to remain anonymous, I have no desire to get work from anyone. No one can give 100% accurate advice on a forum if I get it wrong you'll get a sincere apology and that's all:D

I live in a house with soild walls (built 1903) and have been looking around for grants for soild wall insulation. Daveski is right and because it is expensive and also has a limit on the depth of insulation (normally 2") it is not cost effective. Hence the government focus on cavity wall insulation which is quite cheap to install and has a very short payback period. Also most of the housing stock in the UK has Cavity walls. But you are right it is a bit unfair. have you looked at grants for your loft?
Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.
