Very High BT Bill

I have just received my highest ever BT bill, it covers one month and is with BT option one, does anyone know why it could be so high?

The phone is rarely used and BT Broad is the main reason for having the line.

I think they've changed over their payment dates or something and we end up with 2 months in one bill. Not quite sure how they've worked it out. My parents bill is the same. Mine was the same this month. £1.47 for phone calls - and about £63 in total for line rental and broadband.

Did you get a leaflet in with the bill?

I just looked on the BT site and they've aligned the payment dates for billing and line rental. I'm won't be happy if we have a normal bill again next month. It's confusing. My husband opened the bill and had a go at me for using the phone so much. We were only £1.47 for calls!

I assume you mean you have BT Total Broadband Option 1. That costs £15.99/month but, of course, you also have to pay BT line rental (which includes their Unlimited Weekend Call Plan) and costs £11.54/month if you pay by DD and have opted for paper-free billing.

Hence, a normal month's rental would cost £27.53 plus the cost of calls.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

    Thanks all.

I have had no information from BT regarding a change in their billing system.

Heinz you are correct it is BT Total Broadband Option 1 and I have opted for paper free billing.

I'm finding it hard to find a pdf copy of the leaflet online.

Are any BT representatives online who could explain this bill?

    Hi Shaz77

Would really need to get a look at this to offer an explanation.

Drop me an email to the address in my profile and either myself or one of my colleagues will drop you a reply explaining the bill.

    Thanks

An email has been sent and as of yet I have had no reponse, all very disappointing from BT.
