Any ideas whether the 36" one of these would be suitable to grow my Tomatoes in, and if so how many plants?

Thanks in advance for any help......

If it's the tumbling type of tomatoes then I don't see why not. If you want the taller kind (sorry don't know the proper name) then anchoring the supports might be difficult.
People grow tumbling tomatoes in hanging baskets so these should be just fine.
The 90cm one you say? You could plant 2 or maybe 3 plants in that one. I'm going on the size of a growbag (which should be enough to fill this planter), and that you can plant 3 in a 120cm size. (maybe more knowledgeable peeps will say otherwise, but I have successfully grown 3 plants in a growbag).
It's only a game

Yes they will be fine, as previously said, go for the tumbler type. Fix to the wall in full sun.0

Thanks for that. If I didn't want to grow tumbling ones, would it still be OK? As they wouldn't be under a window, I could provide some support against the wall.0

giving my post a 'bump' just in case anybody else wants to comment!!0

personally i wouldnt grow tomatoes in that. they would dry out very quickly unless they were the miniature tumbler type plantssquaaaaaaaaacccckkkkkk!!!! :money:0

Thanks. That was my worry - not sure how the volume compares with a grow bag. I might have to go to a garden centre which has both and compare them!0

you maybe better off with a large plastic pot or tub for each tomato plant with the soil emptied out of a growbag or multipurpose compost, if growing your tomatoes from seed you need to be starting them off inside now reallysquaaaaaaaaacccckkkkkk!!!! :money:0

I bought the exact same window box for strawberry's, unfortunately the reality didn't quite match the expectation. They dried out too quickly, I had to be watering litterally twice a day! I guess if you filled you soil with water-retaining-gel then you may be OK. But knowing how Tomotoes love to drink, I think you'll be at risk of them drying out.0

Thanks, but itsn't it a bit early to be starting the off? I was assuming that I shouldn't plant them out until May, so was going to plant my seeds indoors in early March????0
