Hi all,
Just a quick query - I have had the house i am buying valued by my mortgage provider and no problems encountered. I am just wondering now how long it will take until I own the house and can move in. What else will need to be done etc. I am asking as the seller is moving abroad in 4 weeks and we would like everything done ASAP for this.

Hi
Im in basically the same situation as you. We are buying a house that has no chain & is empty. Barratts have told me that we should exchange on 21/07 and complete on 28/07. My solicitor is waiting for the searches to come back from the Council which I am told should only take 3 or 4 weeks - could be 1 wk depending on Council's performance. 28th July will take me to approx 6 wks after the offer was accepted which I think is fast moving!Danielle -x-:p0 -
Has your solicitor applied for the searches yet? If the searches raise any queries, your solicitor will need to find out more info. Searches can take anything from a week to 6 weeks, it seems, at the moment to come back.0

Ask your solicitor if they have applied for the searches from a search company or the local council, if its the council, ask your solicitor how long they usually take to come back. Search company's will generally take a week to come back while some councils can take weeks & weeks. If you know were the searches are coming from, you will be able to get a better idea of what timescales will be involved.0
