Best deodorant to combat perspiration

This is a tad embarressing but can anyone please recommend a deodorant to keep
the perspiration at bay please? I don't wear tops with synthetics. I have tried
Sure and Mitchum and don't really help.
If anyone has any other suggestions I'd be very grateful.
Thanks

Ok, a few things to go through:

    1. Is it only your armpits that are sweaty, or do perspire noticeably in other areas?
    2. Are you generally very sweaty?
    3. Has your sweatiness increased recently?

It might be worth checking out the web for hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating )
    http://www.hyperhidrosisuk.org/
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperhidrosis
    http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Hyperhidrosis/Pages/Introduction.aspx

I don't have hyperhidrosis, but I do perspire a fair bit. I find that swimming in a chlorinated pool definitely helps with deoderising of the underarms ( but then I have to moisturize so that my skin doesn't get dry!)
  • I have had this problem in the past and i went to the doctor and he perscribed a roll on product called Driclor.
You apply it at night before bed and then wash it off in the morning. You can use it everynight or every few nights (as many times as you need) and i find it brilliant! It can sting so i never shave before using it.

I have the 60ml roll on and it lasts me about 6 months probably more. I bought a trio pack from Ebay a few years ago for about £20 and im only on my second roll on.

I use a Nivea spray deo in the mornings and even in the summer i was sweat patch free :D

I didn't get on with driclor personally - ended up with red, sore itchy rings around my armpits. And yes, they were dry before applying... the itching used to kick in after going to bed :(

I had problems with it too at first, it would itch when i went to bed so i started to use it a few times a week rather than everyday and its fine now. I guess everyone is different :D

The only other thing i have heard that helps is Botox :rotfl:

  • Try Mitchum thats quite good! I personally use Sanex as I love the fresh smell and it does the job well, and Garnier are bringing out a new deodrant that claims to offer 48 hour protection. I guess its a case of trying them out though, hope this helps xx
  • I've tried Driclor and Perspirex which do the same job. They are really good if, like others have said, you can cope with a bit of itching for a bit before bed. Once you skin gets used to it, it's fine, the first few applications are a bit annoying though. It's about £6/7 from Boots and lasts for ages!

One of my friends had a really bad problem with sweating so she had one of the nerves cut in her arm to stop the problem so there are permanent methods if it's a real problem.

I use Perspirex and it really does work - but I do find using it quite uncomfortable, so I tend to only use it in summer.

i use Anhydrol forte which can be bought at the chemist or Boots. Its usually kept in the pharmacy not on the shelf and usually works well for me. Similar to driclor but i think works better as i have used both in the past

I also found that when i avoid fizzy drinks, and drink water I dont perspire as much. Maybe look at what you drink and eat also.
  • I had to get to the botom of why I was sweating so much, at one point I was discussing botex injections in my armpits with my doctor, he bought it up and explained it would be a last resort because not allowing the sweat to come out if it needs to can cause other problems...

Anyway I found out that mine is due to diet, I now don't eat sugar or most high carb foods and that seems to have solved the problem. My body seems to get hot when processing these things, quite bizarre really.

For years I'd only wear vest tops because I was constantly sweating becaue I'd be cringing all day if I found noticable wet patches on my clothes and I don't have to live like that anymore hurrah. I can wear sleeves today and be comfortable and I use a normal highstreet deoderant.
*wonders when they will make dressing gowns acceptable day wear?*

  • Ok, Tesco had a new Sure roll on on offer, so I bought one. Its the best. No sweating at all! Its white with a green label, and has just been released.
Ive tried many, this is ace.
