Hi,

I am looking too switch electric supplier did four compare sites got four different results [even with same suppliers and tariffs]

Simply Switch £110
MoneySupermarket £37
GoCompare £83
Uswitch £61

The best was with southern electric [not looked at contract etc yet!]

I am tempted by the 110 saving is there anything I should watch for? or anywhere else I should try first?

Thanks

Kev

Kev, you won't get 4 different results if you enter annual usage (kwh), rather than annual spend. They should all be the same. With annual spend, they have to make assumptions. With annual usage, there are no assumptions.

That would explain the wild amounts even with the same supplier...

Will try and ask British Gas my current usage see what happens

    Thanks

I have bills but got no idea how to figure it out, that is why I based it on my monthly direct debit.

Is there somewhere that will tell me how to work it out?

Get out your last 4 bills (assuming quarterly), total the Kwh figures billed across the year, that's your annual consumption.
Electricity calcs are easy, because one meter unit equals one Kwh.

A single subtraction is more straightforward than adding them up.

Got three bills in front of me, been here for a year now latest bill is online so can check that figure easy enough.

    Readings are:

    Night 515 374 378 1731 = 2998
    Day 277 490 432 710= 1909

Now do I base quote on Day reading or add them together?

You have a dual rate meter. Be aware that some suppliers will only supply a dual rate tariff when you have a dual rate meter.

You'll need to add the two values together to see what you would have to pay on a single rate tariff
As you use significantly more electricity at night, I suspect you'd be better off on a dual rate tariff anyway. Night time usage 61% of total.
