Abbey/Santander Paying in problems

I know there have been problems with Abbeys systems this weekend, but this problem has been going on a year.
Has anyone else had any trouble paying cash or cheques in at Abbey branch cash machines - out of hours ??
The problem I get is that the cash machine goes right through the process, gives me an envelope, but then won't accept it back. It says there is a problem and please try later.
I complained many times around a year ago (experienced the problem at 3 different branches) and was told there is no problem. Machines working fine. Today I tried three times, Wasted 2 hours and £5 petrol and had to bring my cash home again. They don't seem to realise not everyone can get to a branch during opening hours.

Nothing surprises me with these clowns. All I can suggest is that you get a real bank account. Abbey/Santander are not known for their good service, this forum is testament to that. P*ss up and brewery spring to mind.
