I went to a wedding a few months ago and they didnt feed the evening guests I dont think anyone had a problem

Were there additional guests invited to that one for the evening??

So long as when you invite them you state that there will be no food, but I wouldn't just invite them without telling them.

What time are you getting married?
What time will you be eating in the day?
What time will it all be over?

how many more for the evening?

a buffet is much cheaper than a meal and you only cater for 75-80% of the guests you have invited. If i went to an evening reception i would expect at least some sort of food.

were having bacon/sausage rolls (butties) and the cake with homemade tablet and macaroon :D(if i manage to make it in the week before the wedding!!!)
would love to win an ipad!

So it will be a lateish night, I'd have to lay food on if it were me, as I'd imagine even the day guests will get peckish again at around 9-10ish!

If you can't afford to feed the evening guests, how will you manage to afford to invite everyone and give them a proper meal?

  • Is there any way you might be able to stetch your food to do two servings? Something in the afternoon then bring more out for the evening? I just ask because with only one light meal of meat rolls and salads even the day time guests might be feeling a bit hungry again before 11.

I went to a 2pm wedding a few months ago and the couple had decided just to feed their guests once (about 7.30ish) but most people hadn't eaten lunch before the ceremony as they were travelling to the church and didn't want to get their church clothes messy. So during the afternoon people we're getting grouchy as they were so hungry and some people even drove to the nearest town to buy sandwiches!

I guess if you tell people beforehand they will be prepared for it but all the other weddings I have attended the all day guests have been fed twice and there has been something for evening guests too.

I think first dance and cutting the cake at the evening do is quite commonly done now so I wouldn't worry about that and I'm sure your evening guests will be glad to be included in these.

Can you not lay on a cold buffet for the evening guests? What is your venue like, is it expensive for the food?

It would be much much cheaper to do a buffet than feed them all in the day.

Can you rope some family members in then to make and bring along some platters of food??

It needn't cost a bomb, I wish we could cater ourselves!!
