Getting a mortgage with bad credit

Help!
I am just about to start searching for a new mortgage with my boyfriend, I have a mortgage at the moment and selling my current property to buy with my fella and will have a large(ish) deposit from the sale of my house which will be used for whatever we buy.
The problem is that I have fallen behind on a number of store card payments (I would estimate about 4-5 months worth) I have paid them off and closed them down but only about a month ago. I'm petrified that we are going to be turned down on a mortgage now due to my bad credit rating and my boyfriend will find out just how useless I really am with money, does anyone have any idea how this works? I have not had a credit check done but imagine it's pretty bad (no CCJ's though)
Any advice gratefully accepted!

I would advise that you sit with your boyfriend and go through everything. You will then be able to see the situation for what it really is, so will any lender/broker you approach for help.
If not he will find out eventually when you try to apply for a mortgage without declaring the missed payments.
Trust me, it is always better to be completely open about money in a relationship. Not only that, it means that you can then confidently approach a broker/lender for help knowing that there will be no nasty surprises.
If the relationship is meant to last it will make no difference to him. Better to share these type of problems.
Hope this helps
