Has anyone bought from Car Giant before?

I haven't had a car for a few years but need to purchase one in the next two weeks.

Have thought about these guys as they're relatively close by to me and less hassle than going through AutoTrader.

Am looking for something like a Nissan Almera / VW Polo a couple of years old.

Any experiences from anyone?

Thanks

This centre is probably the best for as much of an exfleet car, as you'll get, without going to auction.

They have a huge selection & quite often the price will be only a few hundred more than auction, but you have a much better chance to look around your propsosed purchase.

You shouldn't go far wrong here!

  • I almost bought a car from Car Giant last week, everything was going ok until i asked to see the service history.
Salesman refused to show me it and claimed it was company policy not to show the service history on any car.
There was no way i was parting with £6600 without seeing something on paper.
Such a shame because i really liked it-Mondeo Ghia x TDCI.
    Still looking as well :rolleyes2

Policy not to show service history? Sounds odd to me. More likely that they didnt have one.

    Anyone else had this?

I found it very odd as well, be nice to hear if this is nonsense.

It's nonsense to say it's company policy as which company is ever afraid to show this? The one that doesnt have history!

That does seem odd, doesn't exactly put the buyer in a buying frame of mind if it's past is to be hidden due to whatever reason.

I forget how the system works, is it 3 years before a new car needs an M.O.T. ? but it would still need servicing within that time right?

If i was interested in a motor less than 3 years old I think i'd get an AA inspection taken out on it.

Correct - cars need a first MOT at 3 years, but still require servicing at the manufacturers schedule. Failure to follow the servicing could result in voiding the warranty.

And as for not showing the service history?! Never heard such nonsense. I'd have insisted on finding out why from the sales manager.

Looks like you're right. I asked Cargiant for a coment on the above and got:
    Dear Richard,
Our policy in regards to Service history has never been changed. All our customers are more than welcome to have a look at all the vehicle's details including the service history. All paper work is scanned in our computers for customers to view.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.
