Sky taking over Bt landline

In the latest Sky magazine there is a leaflet explaining that sky are completely taking over landline from BT from 29th March; you must let them know 7 days before if you don't want to continue with them.
I rang them yesterday and they explained after this date you would only be able to get these services from them. If you then decided you want to move later to BT (or another landline provider) they will have to install a new line and you would lose your current number. (I presume also there will be a considerable charge for a new line)
I asked if i could keep my broadband with them if i changed back to BT for my landline and they said yes; so that is what i've done. So i will keep my BT line and number and still have the option to move my broadband if i wanted to at a later date; although hopefully i won't have to as i'm very happy with Sky broadband

P.s If you don't let them know by 22nd March then they will take this as you accept the new terms that come into effect on the 29th; altough you won't get entered into a new contract if current one has expired.

Nor me, however bad BT are, I would not trust my telephone to the Sky outfit.

I don't use BT either, but at least my line is under their control.
  • There are advantages to having an LLU line which can include cheaper broadband and a better ability of the supplier to resolve broadband issues, since more of the equipment is within their control and doesn't rely on BT. For instance, O2 broadband users seem very impressed with their LLU service.
