i have had my samsung nc10 for just over a year (13 months to be precise). The battery has been playing up the past couple of weeks, not charging properly when the battery manager says it should be 100% charged etc...

i have done the callibration battery stuff in the bios to no success.

is there anything i can do other than buy a new battery? i didnt know if samsung would change it as it is just over the year?

would the sale of goods act come in too play?

i have googled it and it would seem this is a common fault, but others were still in official warranty.

Sadly I think you are out of luck on this. The Sale of Goods Act says that after six months it becomes your responsibility to demonstrate that the battery did not conform (i.e. was for example not fit for purpose or inherently faulty).

In practice I don't think you will find an expert who will say that a battery that lasted 13 months was inherently faulty, because their lifetime depends on how they are used.

Possibly your best chance of success is to contact Samsung directly and tell them how little used it was, and how disappointed your poverty stricken daughter (make your own sob story up, but don't overdo it!) is about how long it lasted. They may offer to replace it as a gesture of goodwill.

Otherwise a Chinese/HK aftermarket replacement from the Bay will probably be the next best thing (in terms of money saving).
