Hi
Im about to move into a new home and i dont have a land line fitted but i need the internet.
What is the cheapest way to achieve this?
Ive looked at many forum/boards and im just getting more and more confused.
A dongle would cost around £15m.
Would i be better off installing a landline and then looking for a cheap deal?
Could i have a system that includes TV?

BT landline connection is still available FOC until 16/2/10 according to Heinz.
A dongle would involve no set up costs but it is not an adequate substitute for ADSL broadband. And you ned t check which networks you can get at the property first.
What exchange are you on? Broadband is exchange specific.
https://www.samknows.com, exchange search, look for your LLU options, these will be the cheapest deals.
BT Vision is available as a package (if you must). No free lunch, and no free laptop

Would disagree with the above. The average ADSL connection is only 2Mbps to 3Mbps (precious few actually get anywhere near the 8Mbps in the "up to 8Mbps" claim).
You only get a decent ADSL service if you live very near the exchange. So which will be quicker is not a done deal, that said, 3G is not a good option if you like playing online games.
Our 3G is 50% faster than our ADSL was down, and about 25% faster up @ 1.9 miles from the exchange.
The ADSL availability checker will tell you what sort of speed you might expect at your postcode. If it's 3Mbps or less, look at 3G first if you want to avoid a landline.0 -
What is your average 3G speed Mark. Sounds like you have a mast in your back garden!
Average ADSL speed of 2-3 Mbps wil be fine for the majority of users. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Speed tests run on the thinkbroadband site show an actual download speed of 2.3Mpbs dropping to about 2.1Mbps over the lunch hour, and a solid 380kbps upstream. However I have seen 2.7Mbps down and slightly faster upstream at times. Not sure where the mast is - it gets a 4 or 5 bar signal.0

That's great for you, but I don''t think the average dongle use is going to get anywhere near that. Which is why I said that the OP needs to establish what speed they can get at the property if they are considering wireless bb.No free lunch, and no free laptop
