Need help in finding a self-catering cottage in Lake District for a weekend break.

Hi there, does anyone know of any nice self-catering cottages in the Lake District that are not too expensive? My husband and I are looking to go there for a long weekend (leave after work on Friday - travel home on the Monday) We are looking at the area in the South of the Lake District (nr Newby Bridge / Coniston etc.) I have had quite a few failed attempts using web searches as they just seem to produce very expensive and very large places or places that you have to ring up if you want info. on long weekend breaks rather than displaying the details on the website.

dates looking at: end of August / end of Sept / October

It can be as basic as you like as long as its clean and not expensive. I just can't seem to find anywhere thats reasonably priced or in the right area.

thanks.

I had a similar sort of problem when looking for a cottage in Devon. In the end I found a cottage through a local agency advertised on the Visit England Website.

Maybe it's worth a look if you haven't already.

Just returned from Rocklea cottage http://www.havengreen.fsbusiness.co.uk/ in Central Ambleside.

Ideally located for Central Ambleside and has its own private parking space.

Very reasonably priced and helpful owners. Let me know if you require any more info
