Raspberries .... autumn or summer ???

Hi, last year we were very kindly given some raspberry bushes, they were never planted and had been brought from Wilkinsons but had already been removed from the packaging. They never actually fruited last year, but is there a way to tell whether they are an 'autumn or summer' fruiting variety?? Or is it OK to cut both varieties down to ground level now ??

No you need to leave summer ones.
How high have they grown?Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
If & when they fruit will also guide you, summer fruiting plants tend to be tall & fruit at the tops
Seems your best bet is just leave them & see what happensWhen an eel bites your bum, that's a Moray0 -
They are about 2ft tall now, and have buds all the way up the canes.A creative mess is better than tidy idleness

We got some from lidl last year and Oh planted them without labels so we are in the same position. Hope to get more fruit this year and will have labels ready to note summer or autumn.

2 ft sounds like they would be Autumn ones, just wait and find out.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0

Hi - in the same position - new house has raised/caged fruit bed but no idea what raspberry type we have. Some look to be 2ft tall others look to have died back.
If we leave them now will be still get fruit on the ones that should have been pruned now???
