Being consistently overcharged at Station

Could be it's a Southern-run station and they are being iffy about selling FCC only fares? That is totally out of line if true - and as the £17 is also FCC only sounds very unlikely. More likely the guy is in need of training
Buy online and pick up at the machine sounds the easiest solution0 -
I find that pretty much all of National Rail's fares are cheaper online or advance purchase - you're paying a premium for purchasing on the day. It's also highly unlikely that the guy serving you is conning you as his till will still have to balance at the end of each day:silenced:0

That is totally incorrect. Any ticket on-line is available at the same price at the station unless it is an operator specific on-line special ticket. There is no premium whatsoever for purchasing on the day (of course Advance tickets can not be bought on the day right before travel).
I would be interested to see some examples of what you are claiming.0 -
This isn't an isolated problem, there was a thread on uk.railway about Sothern not selling FCC only tickets from ticket machines.0

Just something I had found when buying tickets at the station myself but if it's not supposed to work out that way then I stand corrected and apologise

But in this case the OP was sold a more expensive 'FCC only' ticket than the one needed.TimothyEBaldwin wrote: »This isn't an isolated problem, there was a thread on uk.railway about Sothern not selling FCC only tickets from ticket machines.
