If you were to change to a different sofa from them then they might allow it but if you are talkign about cancelling the order then I suspect you've got no chance. DFS have a pretty poor reputation for customer service and quality particularly on here.0

just for future reference for anyone else in this situation..dfs say its a legally binding contract and cant be cancelled,as the sofa will be being built by now..3 days! however rather than saying "I actually dont like it any more" and also that "I have read loads of poor reports" (agree I should have checked this first),I said I had to cancel as I was no longer moving, house fell through, sob sob.. they agreed to cancel order and gave me a credit note for the deposit paid..
so sometimes it pays not to tell 100% the truth.lesson learnt before paying any money have a good think first..0 -
Indeed.
As you were on their premises you do not have a "cooling off period" an no trader is compelled to offer a refund for a change of mind though some do as a matter of goodwill.
However, Goodwill and DFS (or many other retailers for that matter) are not words that are often found in the same sentence and so the best you could hope for is a credit note.
My advice follows that above, give them a sob story. I find that a loss of job/cut in income is the best one as they would be worried about the finance repayments and therefore the clawback of commission... A failed house move may not work because the delivery address will match the address on the credit agreement... you could try telling them that your mortgage company has started repossesion and you have to move to a flat where there won't be room for it etc.[strike]-£20,000[/strike] 0!0 -
good luck on that one ive heard of people being refused for credit after waiting two days to hear from the credit company and yet still the wonderful kind people from dfs still ordered her sofa and then after 12 weeks tried to deliver it and told her she ordered it they didnt know she didnt get the finance so they said major headache for her.
The best you can do is say the sofa isnt going to fit after you went home and measured it so can you change the sofa for another one they may charge you a percentage for doing so they are a bloody nightmare of a company and i should know lol i wouldnt touch them with a barge pole and i dont understand why they are still trading to be honest (can you tell i hate them with a passion lol)0 -
