    Back on topic :D

A lot of the nicer eateries around here have come up with some amazing deals since new year. The 'average' places I've seen no advertising for, nor heard of no-one I know dining there recently. Cheap places like weatherspoons seem to be doing very well for food still.

I think that's true - we found ourselves in a branch of Ask a week or 2 ago - it was freezing and I was starving and it seemed like a good idea.

It was about 3pm on a Saturday ad I was astonished at how full it was given it wasn't that cheap.

It was only when I got back that I found all the BOGOF vouchers, meal deals etc I'd been emailed. :o

Nice meal, but would have been just as nice at half the price. ;)

Not very mse, I know - if I'd been planning to go I'd have checked.

    Spontenaity is good...but expensive. :)

    Very true.

Though that can turn out surprisingly expensive in the long term, too. ;)

    Enjoy.

Funny how different people are, isn't it? That would instantly send me to sleep. :)

Is anyone still using credit cards to fund their lifestyle?

I sort of assumed everyone had given up on plastic.

The real test is how busy are these places on a wet Wednesday.

I use a credit card for everything I can as I get 1% cashback on it. I pay the balance off in full every month. It's free money :D

The restaurants in my area seem pretty full (people can afford to eat out regularly), the only ones discounting appear to be the chains, Vouchercodes is handy for this. However I prefer frequenting the locally owned eateries.

Ask is a kind of Italianish chain - Slug & Lettuce is an upmarketish chain pub.

I like taking the kids to places like that - kids' menus, free colouring stuff, food they'll eat, staff/customers do not tut when you come in with kids...plus the food is quite pleasant.

Bit bland chain-y experience, but then there are times that's exactly what you want.
