Hi All
Hope someone can help im looking to reclaim my bank changes but im not sure how sucsessful i would be having read some other posts on her.
I have bank statements here back to Jan 07 - November 09 with a total of £445 worth of charges i had actually asked for it to be from the 27th July 2001 however and the cashed the cheque i sent with the letter
Having looked through the list of stuff i was sent i can see that firstly alot of the charges were recieved in the year after my son was born and up to the time me and my ex partner broke up as i can see alot of the things were paid for him using money i did not have, also as i used my card to pay for a lot of things im not sure if i would be classes as 'not helping my self' as i can see ALOT of shopping mainly for my son.
I have managed to cut down on the OD charged in a number of BAD ie paying for things on credit cards, upping my OD, using savings and finally in November 09 with a £600 od and a £750 credit card i decided i needed to do something about it so i moved my current account and used account 1 for my rent only and began paying it back.
In view of all this is it worth me attempting to reclaim my bank charges?

Have a read of Martin's latest guide to reclaiming bank charges.
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/bank-charges
As you'll see, there are no guarantees now; it's all about negotiation.
If you would like to see if there is any chance of you reciving a refund why not start the negotiation. One thing is for sure, if you don't attempt to negotiate, you won't get any charges back.
As the article says:...There’s no guarantee of winning, yet for some, primarily those in hardship, there’s still a risk-free, cost-free process which could see money coming back. ...
Have a read of the lending code to see if you think you should be considered under financial hardship
http://www.lendingstandardsboard.org.uk/docs/lendingcode.pdf"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -

I would ask the bank the question because there are certain elements you have that would class you as being in financial hardship but there are other things that may not ie there is no priority debts from your post(mortgage/rent, council tax, utilitites).
27th July 2001 is based on the FSA Waiver but they should provide you with all your data that they hold and not just 2 years worth.0
