Ive started a new job a couple of weeks ago and I work 6 days a week. I am a care worker and it involves a lot of walking, hours per day. So when it gets to my day off I just want to rest my legs since they hurt!
Ive only had 2 days off so far and I havent done anything in those days off! I feel like its just a waste of a day really since Im not doing anything and dont really have money to do anything anyway since I havent had any pay yet.
My Husband thinks it would be easier if I had 2 days off because then I could relax one day and do something the other lol but its not as easy as getting 2 days off since I only just started, but I know he means well.
I dont really want to carry on like this for every day I have off work so Im just wondering what other people do on their days off. Does anyone work 6 days a week? What do you do?

No I havent tried it. Ive tried to keep them elevated a little at night but that didnt help lol I tried deep heat over night, and a hot water bottle but that just made things worse.
I will look into it, thanks.Weight loss November 09-January 10: [STRIKE]13lbs[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]20lbs[/STRIKE] 27lbs! :j0 -
Are you making sure that you have a good rest on your day off? Starting a new job can be very tiring until you get to grips with it.0

I was a full time nurse on shifts.
I would do 7 on 2 off, then 10 on 2 off etc.
I use to spend the first day off resting in the morning, ie..lie in, bubble bath, doing my nails, hair etc.
Then the second day i would do de cluttering, housework and then maybe visit friends (mainly SAHM`s).
Do you have any hobbies? maybe start one and do that for one of your days off.
Swimming, yoga class, something relaxing for you to do.
I was continuously on my feet at work and can definately understand sore feet/legs.
I found radox bath after work helped, support tights/stocking and good shoes really helped!!
Treat youself to a foot spa too I found it was my ankles and feet that were painful and once these were relaxed my legs were not as sore.
Epsom Salt Bath is good too xDebtFree FEB 2010!Slight blip in 2013 - Debtfree Aug 2014 :j

Ive been trying to have a lie in since Im not sleeping too good as I wake in the night waiting for the alarm to go off as Im so scared of it not working lol. I find that sleeping longer just makes me feel groggy all day so not liking it much.
Inbetween working Im trying to keep up with some of the soaps lol though I watch those at the computer since I miss them every day as I tend to be out working at that time.
Maybe I can take up painting again as something relaxing to do.
My Mum recommended Radox but I havent got any yet. Im going to take a list to the supermarket tomorrow and see what I can get.
Thanks for the suggestions.Weight loss November 09-January 10: [STRIKE]13lbs[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]20lbs[/STRIKE] 27lbs! :j0 -
Hello HoneyD. I can sympathise with you as I work 6 days a week as a baker! I wear Toffeln clogs which are excellent for my feet. They have a flexi sole as opposed to a wooden one! I would also say support tights, or you can get them as pop socks I believe.
I pretty much just chill out on my day off...watch tv and do chores when the adverts come on. And I treat myself to a chocolate fix:)
Maybe when you get used to it you won't feel so tired and be able to do more on your day off! I suspect it's not just the physical side thats tiring you, but also learning a new job as well!Less is more0 -
Hi I work a 6 day week - i am a minister of religion, and so, quite often end up working on the day off as well. I really value my day off, and if it's during the week, the kids are at school and my hubby at work and so its great to have the house to myself. I read, paint (pastels or watercolours), go to the library, local museum....meet uo with friends. If my day off is on sat, then we make it a fmily day, go out and shop together, cinema or bowling and a meal,0

Hi i work 5 days per week starting at 6am and finishing at anything up to 6pm..saturdays i work for 3 hours too..after i have finished i do the housework or homework help with dd or sort the animals or watch some tv or go o the pc or paint the house lol my point is i very rarely sit down! I like you can walk lots some days and others none. Sundays are usually our lazy day..dh has the day off so we rise out of bed about 10am and go out for the day so not really a restful day but better than getting up at 5.30am!
I find in the evenings having a nice long soak helps with relazing so my body doesnt think its always on the go..reading and sitting on the sofa with my netbook and legs up helps too..like now!!
Try the radox amongst other suggestions and see how you get on x0 -
I got a couple of boxes of radox today lol. I was looking for epsom salts but not sure where they are and couldnt find any. I intend to use it over the next few days and see how it helps, Ive got a busy week ahead! My family just say well at least it will help with the weight loss lol. :rotfl:Weight loss November 09-January 10: [STRIKE]13lbs[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]20lbs[/STRIKE] 27lbs! :j0
