Premier Inn - Non-Cancellable booking

Hi all

I booked 2 rooms for a concert in March with Premier Inn, unfortunately I couldn't get tickets for the concert so I want to cancel the rooms but i'm told they are non-cancellable! They didn't make this very clear on the site and when I called them up to query this the guy said I had got a 'special' price online hence the reason I can't get a refund.

He gave me a number to call on Monday to speak to another customer services team if I want to pursue a refund. I just wondered if anyone else had encountered this, and have you got any advice? I'm giving them 4 weeks notice and normally hotels allow cancellations up until mid-day on arrival!

Thanks :(

  • If you have no joy do consider selling them on ebay........ you could make quite a profit if rooms are in short supply

No, hotels do not normally allow cancellations until the day of arrivals, policies vary greatly - there is no 'norm'.

Premier Inn have one of the clearest cancellation policies - on the booking summary page is states (for special rates):

    Our cancellation and amendment policy
Please note that this booking is non-cancellable. Should you decide to cancel, you will be charged for the full value of the stay. This booking cannot be amended. If you decide you'd like to make any changes to this booking once it's been made, you will be charged for the full value of the stay.

I don't see how you could say that was unclear?

rosewhite, the OP would need to check if their booking is transferable. If it is not, and they choose to sell it on, they may be liable for any damage done/ losses incurred by the people that take their booking.
    Gone ... or have I?
  • It is pretty clear on their website, unless your blind!

I regret OP that similar happened to me in that I booked a premier inn special offer room to stay in after a concert to save travelling home late on the train. I fell sick shortly before it. Although a friend used my concert tickets, she wanted to come home afterwards, so the room went to waste. When I was booking the room, I was given the option of a non refundable cheaper room or a more costly one that I could cancel, so in my case I was aware of my booking terms. I agree with dmg24 that selling on a room to an unknow person is risky. If for example they smoked in the room you may be liable for any charges relating to this. Travelodge charge a penality, for deep cleaning and for the time the room is unaccopied due to this deep cleaning under their terms and conditions-you may find Premier Inn do the same. This is what PI terms and conditions state
" You are responsible for any damage caused to the allocated rooms or the furnishings of the hotel. If any act, default or neglect by the guests or organisers results in damage or complaints from other guests, the customer shall be liable to pay to Premier Inn on demand the amount required to make good or remedy such damage".
