BT problems

I have been having problems with BT in a nutshell
Cancelled my service first time when I wanted it to be put on hold until I moved into my new address.
Due to their mistake I requested a better reduced service, that didn't happen
Tried to cancel what I thought was a 12 month contract 6 months ago to be told it is an 18month contract
Told today when I tried to cancel that my line rental is a 12 months rolling contract so will have to pay cancellation charge for the 6 months remaining (isn't a rolling contract pay first 12 months then monthly after that until you decide to cancel?)
Have requested to go to customer relations even mentioned FSA and OFFCOM because of the terrible service I have received, but they have said they will listen to my calls.
All I want, Simple: Cancel phone line and broadband, no charge.
I haven't lived in my house for 6 months haven't been able to move it anywhere, so have had to pay for a service I haven't been using.
Please help

What contract did you agree to?Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0
