Changing foreign money to Euros

I have some Hong Kong dollars which I wanted to convert to Euros for spending money for our up-coming holiday. Does anyone know if these can be converted straight to Euros, or does it have to go through sterling first, and where is the best place to do this?

Never tried it but can`t see why you can`t do it over the counter at any of the major travel agents.0
